Tragic Bus Accidents in Chakwal and Jamshoro Claim 11 Lives, Dozens Injured

A grim day on Pakistan’s roads saw two devastating accidents in Chakwal and Jamshoro on Sunday, leaving at least 11 people dead and 32 others injured.

In the more severe of the two incidents, a passenger bus en route from Islamabad to Lahore veered off the M-2 Motorway near Dhok Sial in the Chakwal district and plunged into a ravine. Rescue officials confirmed that nine people lost their lives at the scene, while 18 others sustained injuries. The injured were transported to the Trauma Center Kallar Kahar and District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary reports suggest the accident may have been caused by speeding or driver fatigue, though authorities are still investigating the exact cause.

In a separate tragedy in Jamshoro, a passenger coach collided with a truck near Nooriabad. The crash claimed two lives — the truck driver and the coach’s helper — and left 10 more injured. The coach was traveling from Karachi to Larkana at the time of the accident.

Emergency services responded promptly, and several of the injured, some in critical condition, were shifted to nearby medical facilities.

The back-to-back accidents have once again raised concerns over road safety standards, especially on long-distance travel routes frequently used by passenger buses. Authorities have urged transport companies and drivers to strictly adhere to safety protocols and driving regulations to prevent further tragedies.

As families mourn the loss of their loved ones, officials say inquiries into both incidents are ongoing.
