Tourists Safely Rescued After Landslide Blocks Route to Saiful Muluk Lake

A large-scale rescue operation was successfully carried out after a sudden landslide stranded dozens of tourists en route to the scenic Saiful Muluk Lake in the Naran region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Triggered by a powerful cloudburst late Friday, the landslide swept mud and debris across the narrow mountain road, halting traffic and trapping over 60 jeeps filled with tourists. The downpour affected the upper areas of the Kaghan Valley, catching many visitors off guard.

Officials confirmed that the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) responded promptly, dispatching its Engineering One team to the affected site. Heavy machinery was used to clear the blocked route, and after hours of effort, the road was reopened.

“All tourists have been rescued safely, and the route has been restored,” said a KDA spokesperson.

Eyewitnesses reported that entire families, including women and children, were stranded for hours in harsh weather. Videos circulating on social media captured the scale of the incident, showing a line of halted jeeps and anxious tourists waiting amidst the wreckage.

Authorities have urged future travelers to check weather forecasts and road conditions before heading toward mountainous areas, especially during the monsoon season.
