Top Sports Officials to Resign Following PSB Enforcement of Term Limits

In a major development aligned with the National Sports Policy, multiple officials from Pakistan’s sports federations have announced plans to step down after receiving formal notices from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). The move comes as part of an ongoing push to enforce governance reforms, particularly limiting the number of terms an individual can serve in office.

According to sources, key figures in the Baseball Federation — including its president and treasurer — have assured the PSB of their intent to resign. Similar commitments have been made by the chairman of the Taekwondo Federation and both the president and secretary of the Judo Federation. Meanwhile, the general secretaries of the Sailing and Karate Federations are also expected to relinquish their posts.

The National Sports Policy mandates that no office-bearer may serve more than two terms in a leadership role. The PSB has granted a 30-day deadline for compliance, prompting swift responses from several federations.

Speaking to Samaa TV, PSB Director Nasrullah Rana confirmed that many of the notified officials have contacted the board, indicating their willingness to step aside. He added that federations are now expected to convene internal meetings to formalize their transitions in line with the policy.

This wave of resignations marks a significant moment in Pakistan’s sports administration, as the PSB intensifies efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and fair leadership rotation across all national sports bodies.
