Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has firmly denied any speculation regarding the potential arrest of its members as they head to Lahore, stating that the traveling group consists exclusively of elected parliamentarians.
Addressing the media outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on Saturday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clarified, “There is no threat of arrests. Only elected members of parliament are going to Lahore, and we are in constant contact with our Punjab colleagues, who are also elected representatives.”
His comments come amid heightened political tensions following recent actions taken against certain members of the Punjab Assembly.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur echoed these sentiments, explaining that the trip was not a form of protest but a demonstration of solidarity. “This is a peaceful and symbolic expression of support for our colleagues who were removed from the Punjab Assembly through unconstitutional means,” he said.
Gandapur stressed that the delegation’s mission was one of unity and respect for democratic institutions. “Our objective is to send a clear message: we support democratic principles and the will of the people. There is no agenda of confrontation – only a commitment to stand with those who have been wrongfully ousted.”
PTI leadership’s reassurance comes as the party continues to navigate political challenges across the provinces, while emphasizing constitutional order and lawful representation.
