Bradley Beal, a three-time NBA All-Star, has reportedly reached a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Suns, according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The deal marks the end of Beal’s short stint in Phoenix and opens the door for his next chapter with the Los Angeles Clippers.
While the Suns have yet to officially confirm the buyout, multiple outlets, including ESPN, report that Beal plans to sign a two-year, $11 million contract with the Clippers once he clears waivers. The deal is said to include a player option for the second year, giving Beal flexibility in the next phase of his career.
Beal is expected to forgo $13.9 million of the $110 million still owed to him by the Suns. The financial concession offers Phoenix some much-needed breathing room under the salary cap as they look to recalibrate their roster after a turbulent offseason.
The buyout is part of a broader shake-up in Phoenix, who earlier this summer traded future Hall-of-Famer Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets. That blockbuster deal brought back a package including young star Jalen Green, veteran wing Dillon Brooks, and the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which the Suns used to select Duke standout Khaman Maluach.
Beal’s move to the Clippers signals Los Angeles’ continued pursuit of depth and experience as they seek to build a title-contending team around Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Once official, Beal’s arrival will bring additional scoring and playmaking to a team hungry for postseason success.
Originally drafted by the Washington Wizards in 2012, Beal spent more than a decade in D.C. before being traded to Phoenix last year. Injuries and inconsistent chemistry limited his impact with the Suns, but the 31-year-old now gets a fresh start in L.A., where he hopes to revive his career and contribute to a championship push.
