Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has sustained an injury while shooting for his much-anticipated film King, prompting a temporary halt in filming. The 59-year-old actor was engaged in a physically demanding action sequence at Mumbai’s Golden Tobacco Studio when the incident occurred.
Although the specific details of the injury remain undisclosed, insiders suggest it’s a muscular strain—non-critical but enough to require medical attention. Khan has reportedly flown to the United States with his team for treatment and recovery.
“While the injury isn’t serious, it does require rest,” said a source close to the actor. “Given his past muscle injuries, doctors have recommended a month-long break from filming.”
The setback has disrupted the original shooting schedule, which planned to continue through July and August. The next leg of production is now postponed to September or October. Studio bookings at key locations like Film City, Golden Tobacco Studio, and Yash Raj Films have also been rescheduled.
Directed by Siddharth Anand—best known for Pathaan—King features a powerhouse cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, and rising star Suhana Khan, Shah Rukh’s daughter, who is expected to play a central role.
Described as a gritty, emotional action film, King draws inspiration from the 2000 film Bichhoo, itself loosely based on Luc Besson’s Léon: The Professional. Khan will portray a tormented assassin seeking vengeance, with Suhana’s character joining him on a dangerous mission.
Initially attached to director Sujoy Ghosh, the film changed hands to Anand, bringing his signature high-octane style to the project. Filming is set to span multiple locations in India and Europe.
Despite the delay, those close to the project remain optimistic. “Shah Rukh is determined to bounce back,” a production member shared. “Once he’s recovered, he’ll bring his trademark energy back to the set.”
With the massive success of Pathaan and Jawan still fresh in the public’s mind, King is already positioned as one of the year’s most awaited releases. Fans can expect more updates once the actor resumes filming later this year.
