Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is gearing up to initiate a countrywide movement advocating for constitutional and democratic rights starting August 4, 2025, according to senior PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. The announcement was made in a statement issued from Swabi on Sunday.
Qaiser stressed that the movement will strictly adhere to legal and constitutional boundaries. He declared August 5 a “Black Day” to commemorate the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan two years prior, demanding the immediate release on bail of Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, as their constitutional right. Qaiser criticized the judiciary, alleging it operates under government pressure and lacks independence.
The PTI leader vowed to protect party workers from state oppression and urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to ensure no crackdowns occur. He also called for swift resolution of all pending legal cases against Khan, emphasizing the need for justice.
To mark August 5, Qaiser announced that PTI supporters will peacefully gather, carrying Pakistan’s national flag, white flags, and party flags, symbolizing their commitment to a lawful protest.
