Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again asserted Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms, emphasizing that the state will pursue its mission until the menace is eradicated completely.

This declaration was made during a high-level meeting of the Steering Committee on Counter-Terrorism and State Authority Reinforcement, held on Thursday. The session was chaired by PM Shehbaz and saw the attendance of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, as well as other key civil and military officials.

Senior figures including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, National Security Adviser Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, federal ministers, chief secretaries, inspectors general, and intelligence heads from across the provinces participated in the crucial meeting.

During the proceedings, the prime minister called for enhanced coordination between federal and provincial authorities to implement counter-terrorism measures more effectively. He also instructed all stakeholders to act decisively on the recommendations presented by the committee.

In his remarks, PM Shehbaz highlighted that the international community acknowledges Pakistan’s achievements in combating terrorism. He pointed to a comprehensive strategy involving military operations, legislation, and counter-extremism efforts that have helped dismantle terrorist networks and neutralize threats.

He paid tribute to the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, praising their sacrifices and continued dedication. “The unity of the nation, military, and law enforcement institutions is our greatest strength in the fight against terrorism,” he said.

The premier referenced major counter-terror operations such as Radd-ul-Fasaad and Zarb-e-Azb, crediting them with restoring peace in formerly volatile regions. He also noted the contributions of intelligence agencies, provincial governments, and the Ministry of Interior in sustaining internal security.

In particular, the prime minister pointed to ongoing operations against smuggling syndicates and extremist groups such as Fitnat-ul-Hind and Fitnat-ul-Khawarij, stating that these efforts are not only enhancing national security but also benefiting the economy.

Shehbaz Sharif further emphasized the government’s reform agenda, including digital governance, tax system improvements, and institutional transparency, which he said are critical to building investor trust and fostering long-term stability.

He also confirmed that the repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals is being carried out in an organized and effective manner, as part of broader national security objectives.
