The Pakistani government has announced a new phase of its crackdown on illegal foreign nationals, with a particular focus on undocumented Afghan citizens residing in the country.
According to a statement from the Interior Ministry, the government has decided to deport all foreign nationals living illegally in Pakistan. Afghan nationals currently on trial or those who have completed their prison terms will now be repatriated under Section 14-B of the Foreigners Act.
The ministry also highlighted that the Proof of Registration (PoR) cards issued to Afghan refugees expired on June 30. Any Afghan citizen remaining in the country beyond that date without valid documentation is now considered to be residing illegally.
In response, federal authorities have instructed district administrations, police forces, prison departments, and other relevant agencies to identify, arrest, and deport undocumented foreigners. The nationwide campaign aims to tighten immigration enforcement and restore control over the country’s border and residency regulations.
This move marks a significant shift in policy and is expected to impact thousands of Afghans who have sought refuge in Pakistan over the years, especially amid political instability in neighboring Afghanistan.
