Pakistan Clinches T20 Victory Against West Indies
Pakistan launched their three-match T20 series against West Indies with a commanding 14-run win on Friday, August 1, 2025. Saim Ayub’s stellar all-round contribution, scoring 57 runs and taking 2 wickets, earned him the Player of the Match award. Batting first, Pakistan posted 178 runs, while West Indies managed 164 for 7 in their 20 overs. Johnson Charles and Jeavor Royal each scored 35 runs for West Indies, with Jason Holder unbeaten on 30. Pakistan’s bowling was spearheaded by Mohammad Nawaz, who claimed 3 wickets, supported by Ayub’s 2, and one each from Shaheen Afridi and Sufiyan Muqeem.
Pakistan and Egypt Bolster Military Cooperation
In parallel, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza visited Egypt for the third round of Defence and Security Talks, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to deepen defence and security collaboration. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Mirza held high-level meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Minister of Defence General Abdel Mageed Ahmed Abdel Mageed Saqr, Suez Canal Authority Chairman Admiral Osama Mounier Mohamed Rabie, and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Professor Dr Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed El-Tayeb.
The discussions focused on enhancing military-to-military ties through joint training, exercises, and defence collaboration, while addressing regional security and counter-terrorism. General Mirza emphasized the role of religious and interfaith harmony in combating terrorism during his meeting with the Grand Imam. Egyptian leaders praised the Pakistan Armed Forces’ professionalism and their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. The visit commenced with a Guard of Honour presented to CJCSC Mirza by the Egyptian Armed Forces at the Ministry of Defence.
