Pakistan Dismisses India’s ‘Mahadev’ Operation Claims as Baseless and Provocative

Pakistan on Friday categorically rejected Indian allegations surrounding the so-called Operation Mahadev and the recently discussed Operation Sindoor, accusing New Delhi of spreading misinformation to justify hostility.

During his weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned the remarks made by Indian officials in the Lok Sabha, describing them as “provocative and without merit.” He said these claims were part of a deliberate effort to mislead the global community and rationalize aggression toward Pakistan.

“India, under the pretext of Operation Mahadev, is targeting innocent civilians and has failed to achieve its strategic objectives through Operation Sindoor,” Khan stated. “Pakistan’s military has responded appropriately in the past and is fully prepared to do so again if required.”

Khan also criticized India’s swift military actions following the Pahalgam incident, saying New Delhi did not wait for a proper investigation despite Pakistan’s willingness to cooperate.

“It is deeply concerning that India chose to eliminate the so-called suspects before even concluding its parliamentary debate,” he remarked. “This behavior shows India’s continued tendency to act as judge, jury, and executioner.”

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, Khan emphasized the need for dialogue to resolve longstanding disputes, especially the Kashmir issue. “We remain committed to a peaceful resolution of all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, in accordance with international law,” he said.

He further criticized India’s move to suspend provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a serious breach of international obligations. “Disregarding the treaty is tantamount to violating a binding international agreement,” he asserted, adding that Pakistan does not accept India’s statements on the matter.

On the diplomatic front, Khan provided updates on Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s recent visit to the United States. Dar traveled from New York to Washington on July 25, where he met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and chaired a key meeting on UN and OIC cooperation the day before.

In addition to his official meetings, Dar also engaged with leaders from Palestine, Egypt, Kuwait, Norway, and Bangladesh, and met with members of the Pakistani-American community in New York.

Khan noted Pakistan’s appreciation for the US role in supporting the Pakistan-India ceasefire and reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to international peace efforts.

On Palestine, he confirmed that Ishaq Dar voiced strong support for a two-state solution at a special United Nations conference, while also highlighting Pakistan’s concern over the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Regionally, Khan confirmed that Pakistan’s foreign secretary held talks with the Chinese special envoy for Afghanistan and welcomed the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which was mediated by Malaysia.

Lastly, he announced that Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian will begin his first official visit to Pakistan on August 2. During his two-day stay, he is expected to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
