DHAKA – Pakistan ended their T20I series on a high note with a commanding 74-run victory over Bangladesh in the third and final match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, though the hosts claimed the series 2-1.
Chasing a target of 179, Bangladesh collapsed for just 104 runs in 16.4 overs — their third-lowest total against Pakistan in T20 Internationals. All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was the top scorer with a fighting 35 off 34, while only Mohammad Naim (10) joined him in reaching double figures.
Pakistan’s bowling unit delivered a clinical performance, led by Salman Mirza, who took 3 for 19 in four overs. Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz picked up two wickets each, while Ahmed Daniyal, Hussain Talat, and skipper Salman Ali Agha chipped in with one apiece.
Earlier, after being sent in to bat, Pakistan posted a competitive 178/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to solid contributions from their top order.
Openers Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan got Pakistan off to a flying start with an 82-run partnership. Ayub scored 21 off 15 balls, while Farhan top-scored with a quickfire 63 off 41, including six fours and five sixes.
Middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz added further momentum with 33 off 17 balls, hitting one four and three sixes. Mohammad Nawaz also played a late cameo, smashing 27 off 16, while captain Salman Ali Agha finished unbeaten on 12.
For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed led the bowling with 3 for 38, followed by Nasum Ahmed with two wickets. Shoriful Islam and Mohammad Saifuddin claimed one each.
Despite the win, Pakistan lost the three-match series 2-1, with Bangladesh securing victories in the first two games.
