Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated sharply as Iran launched a fifth wave of missile attacks under Operation True Promise 3, responding to Israeli airstrikes targeting critical defense infrastructure near Tehran.
In a statement released Saturday, the Israeli military confirmed that its air force conducted a significant overnight operation in Iranian territory. According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), dozens of strategic targets in the Tehran area were hit, including advanced surface-to-air missile systems.
“This marks the first time since the conflict began that Israeli Air Force operations extended over 1,500 kilometers into Iranian territory, directly targeting key aerial defense assets in and around Tehran,” the statement read.
The strike reportedly aimed to degrade Iran’s air defense capabilities, signaling a dramatic escalation in hostilities and a significant geographical expansion of military operations between the two adversaries.
The situation remains fluid as both sides brace for potential retaliatory measures, and international concern mounts over the risk of a broader regional conflict.
