North Waziristan Tribes Vow Full Support to Army in Fight Against Terrorism

Tribal elders in North Waziristan have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Pakistan Army’s ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism and restore peace in the region, particularly against groups identified as Fitna al-Khawarij, which officials say are backed by external hostile forces, including India.

A grand Jirga was convened in Miranshah by the Pakistan Army, bringing together influential tribal leaders to discuss regional security and cooperation in the fight against extremism. The gathering focused on mobilizing community support to counter anti-state elements and strengthen peace initiatives.

During the meeting, participants expressed deep respect for the sacrifices of the armed forces, law enforcement personnel, and martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. The tribal elders unanimously pledged to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the military and help prevent any resurgence of terrorist elements in the area.

Major General Adil Iftikhar Warraich, General Officer Commanding, attended the Jirga as the chief guest. In his address, he praised the resilience of the tribal people and underscored their historical role in defending national integrity. He emphasized that lasting peace in North Waziristan would not be possible without the active participation of local communities.

In a related development, another Jirga was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met with representatives from the merged tribal districts. He stated that a 20-member Jirga would be formed to develop a detailed peace roadmap, which will be presented to both the provincial government and military leadership.

The coordinated efforts mark a renewed push to secure long-term peace and stability in North Waziristan through dialogue, community involvement, and targeted counterterrorism measures.
