Mahira Khan, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actresses, is not backing down in the face of ageist commentary. In a recent interview, the Raees star reaffirmed her commitment to authenticity, addressing the ongoing media obsession with actors’ ages.
Recalling a recent moment with her family, Mahira shared: “I was sitting with my parents, having a meal, when my mother mentioned someone had posted something nasty online. She wasn’t happy about it.”
Her mother’s concern led to a question—“Do you really need to be so honest about your age?” To which Mahira replied with quiet confidence: “Yes. That’s just who I am.”
“I’ve never hidden the fact that I got married, got divorced, that I have a child, how old he is—or how old I am,” she said. “I want to stay true to myself, and I don’t care what anyone else thinks.”
Khan emphasized that while others may be entitled to their opinions, she remains unaffected by outside noise. In fact, she often declines roles that don’t align with her age or life experience, carefully selecting projects that feel authentic to her.
“It doesn’t bother me,” she added. “I want to create a space where both the next generation—and I—can feel comfortable being exactly who we are.”
Her remarks follow criticism from YouTuber Dr. Omer Adil, who commented on her visible wrinkles in close-up shots from her recent film Love Guru, suggesting no attempt had been made to hide her age on screen.
Rather than reacting with defensiveness, Mahira Khan continues to lead by example—embracing her age, her journey, and her truth with grace.
