Komal Meer Breaks Silence on Plastic Surgery Rumors and Body Shaming

Rising star Komal Meer has set the record straight on her recent physical transformation, firmly denying plastic surgery rumors while opening up about her long struggle with body image and industry pressures.

In a candid interview, Komal revealed that she had battled disordered eating for years, often being underweight and body-shamed by people within the entertainment world. “I was constantly called names like ‘stick’ or ‘a hanger on clothes,’” she shared. “These weren’t comments from strangers — they came from co-actors, directors, and stylists.”

The young actress said she was frequently told to gain weight to look more appealing on screen, a suggestion that eventually pushed her to change her lifestyle when she was cast in a film role that required a fuller appearance. “It was the first time I gave myself permission to eat freely,” Komal explained. “I gained six kilograms, and most of it showed on my face — but I felt healthier and stronger than ever.”

Despite feeling physically and emotionally better, Komal was met with a wave of online criticism once she reappeared on screen. Social media lit up with accusations of cosmetic enhancements, with viewers claiming she had undergone Botox, fillers, or surgery. Many dismissed her improved well-being, focusing instead on her changed appearance.

The backlash intensified during the airing of her drama Goonj, where viewers not only questioned her looks but also critiqued her acting. Harsh comments ranged from calling her performance “overacting” to claiming she was trying — and failing — to look like fellow actress Hania Aamir.

In response, Komal made it clear that her appearance was the result of natural weight gain and recovery from years of unhealthy habits, not cosmetic procedures. “When I was finally happy with my body, nobody else was,” she said, voicing the emotional toll that public scrutiny had taken.

Despite the negativity, Komal remains steadfast. She refuses to apologise for prioritising her health and is using her platform to speak out against the toxic standards women face in showbiz.

Her honesty has resonated with many, making her not just a talented performer, but also a voice of resilience in an industry that too often values appearance over authenticity.
