Humayun Saeed Says He’s a ‘Love Guru’ On and Off the Screen

Renowned Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed, who stars in the upcoming romantic comedy Love Guru, recently revealed that his on-screen persona isn’t far from reality—he considers himself a real-life “love guru” as well.

In a candid promotional interview alongside co-star Mahira Khan, Saeed shared insights into his personal experiences with love and relationships, joking that he’s often the go-to advisor for friends dealing with matters of the heart.

The conversation, hosted by Waseem Badami, touched on several light-hearted and serious topics. Addressing rumors of tension between him and Mahira Khan—given their long hiatus from working together—Saeed explained there was no rift. He revealed that over the past decade, he had offered Mahira leading roles in multiple films, including Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, and London Nahi Jaunga, but she turned them down.

Mahira confirmed his statement, adding that her preference has always been for more dramatic or meaningful roles rather than mainstream “masala” or comedy films.

The discussion then shifted to the state of the Pakistani film industry. Saeed pointed out that the slow pace of production is due to the high risks and financial investment involved in filmmaking. He noted that many producers hesitate to move forward until someone else’s film performs well at the box office—an attitude he believes is holding the industry back.

When asked what it truly means to be a “love guru,” Saeed gave a thoughtful response. “A love guru isn’t just someone who flirts or plays games,” he said. “It’s someone who genuinely guides others about love—how to recognize it, when to pursue it, and when to walk away. That’s the essence of the character in the film, and it reflects who I am in real life.”

With a chuckle, he added that he’s often approached by friends for romantic advice. “Love can come at any age,” he said, “and yes, it can happen more than once—but always with one person at a time. Otherwise, it’s not love, it’s a misadventure.”

Love Guru marks the reunion of two of Pakistan’s biggest stars and has already generated buzz with its music and marketing campaign. As anticipation builds, Humayun Saeed’s real-life role as a romantic advisor only adds charm to his on-screen character, making fans even more eager to see him in action.
