The Guyana Amazon Warriors have made strategic additions to their roster for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, bringing in Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed and Australian wicket-keeper batter Ben McDermott as temporary replacements.
Iftikhar Ahmed, renowned for his explosive batting, joins the Warriors as a stand-in for Hassan Khan, who will miss the team’s opening three matches. The CPL announced Iftikhar’s inclusion via a post on X, with the Warriors noting, “The powerful batter will suit up for the Guyana Amazon Warriors as a temporary replacement for Hassan Khan.”
In another key move, the Warriors have signed Ben McDermott to fill the void left by injured New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips. The 30-year-old Australian, a regular for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL), was welcomed by the CPL management through an official statement on X: “The Australian wicket-keeper batter joins the Guyana Amazon Warriors as a replacement for the injured Glenn Phillips.”
These signings add depth and versatility to the Warriors’ lineup as they gear up for a competitive CPL campaign.
