Government Plans Unified Cash Award Policy to Ensure Fair Treatment of Athletes

In a significant step toward promoting fairness and transparency, the federal government has decided to implement a uniform cash award policy for national athletes across all sports disciplines.

The move aims to eliminate long-standing disparities in the way awards and incentives are distributed to Pakistani sportspersons. According to sources, Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister, has directed a task force to develop a comprehensive and consistent framework for awarding cash prizes to athletes who bring pride to the country.

Under the new policy, all awards will be standardized, ensuring that medal winners from events like the Olympics, World Games, Asian Games, and other major international championships receive equal and justified recognition for their achievements.

Importantly, the government has imposed restrictions on the arbitrary distribution of public funds. No individual in the government will be allowed to award cash from the national treasury without following the official guidelines. Any cash awards given outside of the framework must come from private sources, not taxpayer money.

Officials believe that this reform will address the sense of neglect and unequal treatment many athletes have voiced in the past.

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is currently preparing the draft of the new policy, which will soon be submitted to the Prime Minister for final approval.

This initiative is seen as a crucial step toward restoring trust among athletes and ensuring that all sportspersons are rewarded fairly for their dedication and success on the global stage.
