Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur delivered a defiant speech on Saturday night, issuing a 90-day ultimatum for the release of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and warning of consequences if the demand is not met.
Speaking at a PTI parliamentary meeting, Gandapur accused authorities of unjustly detaining the party’s founder, declaring, “Our leader is innocent. There is no case against him. He must be with us by the 90th day—or we will take action.” The chief minister did not hold back in his remarks, warning, “If you open fire on us, be ready to face the same. If our workers are taken, we will retaliate.”
He also criticized Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of JUI-F, for his recent comments about bringing down the PTI-led government in KP. Gandapur dismissed Fazlur Rehman’s statements, calling his political mandate “fake” and asserting that he had no right to speak of changing the KP government.
“You didn’t give us this government—so don’t think you can take it away,” he said. “I’m not intimidated by political threats. If you think you can topple this government, go ahead and try.”
The PTI chief minister further accused the Punjab Assembly of undermining democratic principles by suspending PTI lawmakers, calling the move unlawful. He warned that any continued action against PTI members in Punjab would be met with reciprocal measures in KP.
“Our party founder is still ready for dialogue,” Gandapur added. “But if this injustice continues, we will not sit silently.”
Concluding his speech, Gandapur led party members in chants supporting the PTI founder and took a formal pledge from lawmakers to launch a nationwide movement for his release.
The political temperature continues to rise as PTI leaders prepare to escalate their protest campaign—indicating that the next 90 days could prove critical for the party and the broader political landscape.
