The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is facing mounting internal discord in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, as senior party members begin to openly express dissatisfaction with the leadership’s approach and decision-making process.
Party insiders report that disagreements among prominent leaders have not only stalled party activities but also sown confusion among grassroots workers. The lack of cohesion has led to visible fractures in the party’s once tightly-knit organisational framework.
Multiple sources suggest that tensions—particularly over recent policy directions and budget matters—have escalated to the point where several key leaders have chosen silence over public confrontation to avoid further embarrassment. Still, this silence has only fueled speculation and unrest within PTI’s provincial ranks.
Social media has also played a destabilising role. Internal debates and diverging opinions are being selectively leaked or misrepresented online, leading to misinformation and deepening mistrust among party workers.
One of the most vocal critics of the current leadership style, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar, highlighted the growing alienation within the party. “Only a few individuals have direct access to the party’s founder, while the rest of us are left in the dark,” he said. “It’s unclear what instructions have been issued on key matters, making our participation in decision-making processes pointless.”
Akbar clarified that his decision to boycott recent consultative and political committee meetings stems from this exclusionary approach. “When leadership fails to be inclusive, the entire organisational structure is at risk,” he warned.
According to well-placed sources, more leaders are expected to air their concerns publicly in the coming days, potentially worsening the internal crisis. If not addressed promptly, the growing disunity may weaken PTI’s position in the province—a region that has long served as one of its strongest support bases.
With uncertainty looming and internal dissatisfaction mounting, PTI’s leadership may soon face a critical juncture: either adopt a more transparent and collaborative approach or risk further erosion of party unity and credibility in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
