U.S. President Donald Trump has said the situation between Iran and Israel may soon go “better than a ceasefire,” as both nations continue exchanging missile strikes for a fifth consecutive day.

Speaking aboard Air Force One following his early departure from the G7 summit in Canada, Trump made the remark without offering further details. According to the BBC’s North America correspondent traveling with him, the exact meaning of his comment remains unclear.

The statement came hours after fresh explosions were heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with the Israeli military confirming a renewed barrage of missiles launched by Iran. Iranian media reported loud blasts and intense air defence activity over Tehran during the night.

Iran reportedly fired two waves of missiles in retaliation for earlier Israeli airstrikes, triggering air raid sirens across central and northern Israel in the early morning hours.

Although the exchanges continued, the intensity of the latest attacks appeared reduced compared to previous nights. BBC correspondent Hugo Bachega in Jerusalem noted there were no immediate reports of direct hits or casualties.

The ongoing conflict has raised concerns globally, as both sides show no signs of backing down despite international calls for de-escalation.
