Iran Strikes Israeli Airbases in Retaliatory Missile Operation, Top Commander Says

Iran has confirmed that its latest retaliatory offensive, dubbed Operation True Promise III, successfully struck key Israeli airbases, according to a senior military official cited by Iran’s Tasnim news agency.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, a senior advisor within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced on state television Friday night that the operation targeted multiple sites inside Israeli-held territory in response to recent Israeli attacks on Iran.

Among the primary targets were the Nevatim and Ovda airbases, which General Vahidi described as critical hubs for Israel’s command and control systems and electronic warfare operations. He claimed these bases had served as launch points for recent airstrikes against Iranian territory.

In addition, the IRGC reportedly launched strikes on Tel Nof airbase, located near Tel Aviv, as well as targeting Israel’s defense ministry and a range of military-industrial sites in the capital region.

General Vahidi stated that Iranian forces had pre-selected more than 150 targets, which were attacked in multiple waves. He described Israel’s decision to strike Iranian soil as a “grave miscalculation” and warned that further consequences for what he termed “Zionist aggression” were inevitable.

The development marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two regional powers and underscores the growing volatility in the region.
