Pakistan-Iran Business Forum Sets Ambitious $10 Billion Trade Goal

The Pakistan-Iran Business Forum convened in Islamabad with a renewed focus on expanding bilateral trade, as both nations work to deepen economic ties and unlock regional trade potential.

Speaking at the event, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening trade relations with neighboring Iran. He revealed that negotiations for a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) are nearing completion, which would establish a structured framework to significantly boost cross-border commerce.

“The longstanding brotherly bond between Pakistan and Iran forms a solid foundation for enhanced economic cooperation,” the minister said. “We are actively working to facilitate border trade and remove barriers that have hindered progress in the past.”

One of the key highlights of the forum was the announcement of a shared goal to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion. Jam Kamal Khan expressed confidence in the feasibility of the target, pointing to untapped opportunities in energy, agriculture, textiles, and logistics sectors.

“By effectively utilizing the existing potential and building stronger trade mechanisms, we believe this goal is within reach,” he added.

The forum served as a platform for business leaders, policymakers, and trade experts from both countries to explore avenues for cooperation. With momentum growing behind the proposed FTA and enhanced trade facilitation efforts, the Pakistan-Iran partnership appears poised for a new phase of economic growth and strategic collaboration.
