Terrorist Attack in Bannu Claims Life of Police Constable, Three Others Injured

A deadly terrorist attack targeted a police checkpoint in the Fateh Khel area of Bannu district in the early hours of Sunday, resulting in the martyrdom of one police constable and injuries to three others.

According to police sources, the attackers—armed with advanced weaponry—stormed the checkpost under the cover of darkness. During the intense exchange of fire, Constable Niaz was martyred in the line of duty, while his fellow officers Munir, Saudad, and Mufti Mahmood sustained injuries.

In a swift and courageous response, police forces managed to neutralize three militants during the gunfight. A subsequent search operation was launched in the surrounding area to hunt down any remaining suspects or facilitators.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bannu praised the bravery of the officers involved and reiterated the police department’s unwavering resolve. “Our personnel stand firm against terrorism. These acts of violence will not break our spirit,” he stated.

The bodies of the slain militants have been taken to a nearby hospital for identification, while the injured policemen are receiving treatment at a local medical facility. Security remains tight in the area as investigations continue into the identities and affiliations of the attackers.
