Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory at Punjab Dental Hospital, Lahore, in a move aimed at strengthening medical services and improving patient outcomes.
The announcement was made during the 31st Board of Management meeting held at De Montmorency College of Dentistry on Thursday. The meeting included a review of the institution’s performance and also approved the creation of a dedicated anesthesia department at the college.
Minister Rafique said the initiative aligns with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who has prioritized upgrades across the province’s healthcare infrastructure.
“We are committed to modernizing Punjab’s healthcare facilities, and this new lab will significantly enhance the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities,” he stated. He further stressed that improving patient care and resolving staffing shortages are key objectives of the provincial government.
The minister also acknowledged the pressing issue of a doctor shortage at De Montmorency College of Dentistry and assured that the matter will be addressed on an urgent basis to ensure seamless healthcare delivery.
The new lab and departmental upgrades are expected to improve the quality of care for patients while also providing medical students with better training resources.
