Aleema Khan Seeks Court Approval for Imran Khan to Sign Legal Document

On July 25, 2025, Aleema Khan, sister of jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) requesting permission for her brother to sign a power of attorney. The legal move aims to enable Imran Khan to challenge recent court decisions by filing an appeal in the Supreme Court (SC).

Represented by Barrister Salman Safdar and other lawyers, Aleema Khan’s petition highlights that the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected bail applications related to Imran Khan’s cases. To pursue an appeal in the SC, the PTI leader’s signature on a power of attorney is required. The petition notes that the necessary documents were submitted to the deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is incarcerated, but the signed documents have not been returned.

With the deadline to approach the Supreme Court nearing, the petition urges the IHC to direct jail authorities to facilitate the signing of the power of attorney. The request underscores Imran Khan’s legal right to contest the LHC’s decision and seeks urgent court intervention to ensure the process moves forward. This development follows Aleema Khan’s recent public statements on behalf of her brother, emphasizing his call to stand against oppression.
