KL Rahul Joins Elite Club with 1,000 Test Runs in England

Indian opener KL Rahul reached a significant milestone on Wednesday as he crossed 1,000 Test runs in England during Day 1 of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester.

The 33-year-old batsman has now become only the fifth Indian to achieve this feat, joining a legendary group that includes Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli.

Rahul reached the milestone in style during a steady opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, as India got off to a strong start after England captain Ben Stokes opted to field first. The Indian openers displayed solid technique and patience, guiding their team to 78 without loss in 26 overs before the lunch break.

Rahul contributed a composed 40 off 82 deliveries, laced with four boundaries, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 36 from 74 balls, hitting six fours and a six.

This milestone cements KL Rahul’s reputation as a reliable performer in overseas conditions, particularly in England, where seam and swing often test even the best batters. His inclusion among Indian cricketing greats marks a noteworthy chapter in his Test career.

The match also saw history being made elsewhere, with Akash Kamboj becoming the first Indian player in 25 years to debut at Old Trafford.

As the series continues, Rahul’s form and experience in English conditions could play a pivotal role in India’s push for a strong finish.
