Oleksandr Usyk delivered a dominant performance at Wembley Stadium, stopping Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to once again become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
In front of a roaring crowd of 90,000 fans, the Ukrainian maestro showcased his technical brilliance, sending Dubois to the canvas twice in round five. The second knockdown proved decisive, as Dubois failed to beat the count, sealing another emphatic win for Usyk.
With the victory, the 38-year-old extended his flawless professional record to 24 wins, reasserting his legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats. This bout marked Usyk’s second stoppage win over Dubois, following their first clash in 2023.
After the fight, Usyk expressed gratitude and relief:
“I’m sorry [Dubois], it’s sport. My people wanted this win,” he told DAZN.
“Nothing is next. It’s enough. I want to rest now—spend time with my wife, my children. Two or three months of rest.”
Dubois Falls Short Again
Despite a spirited effort, Dubois, who stunned the boxing world by defeating Anthony Joshua last September to retain the IBF title, suffered his third professional defeat—each coming by stoppage. His record now stands at 22 wins and 3 losses.
Dubois accepted defeat with humility, saying:
“I have to commend him on the performance. I gave everything I had. Take no credit away from that man—I’ll be back.”
“I was just trying to win round by round. It is what it is.”
Champion Once More
Usyk’s win sees him reclaim the IBF belt, which had been stripped from him shortly after his 2023 unification victory. With the title back in hand, he now holds the WBA (Super), WBO, WBC, and IBF heavyweight belts once again—solidifying his status as the two-time undisputed champion in the four-belt era.
The fight was hailed as another demonstration of Usyk’s genius in the ring, with fans and pundits praising his timing, movement, and tactical superiority.
At this point, Usyk’s immediate plans don’t include another bout. After years of high-stakes matchups and intense training, the champion says it’s finally time to rest—and he’s more than earned it.
