Siraj Fined for Aggressive Send-Off After Dismissing Duckett at Lord’s

India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been fined for his on-field conduct after an intense send-off of England opener Ben Duckett during the fourth morning of the third Test at Lord’s.

The incident occurred when Duckett was caught at mid-on. Siraj followed through aggressively, yelling in the batter’s face before the two brushed shoulders as Duckett walked off. The fiery moment added to the tension of what has already been a heated contest between the two sides.

As a result, Siraj has been fined 15% of his match fee and handed one demerit point under the ICC’s Code of Conduct. The match referee, Richie Richardson, found him guilty of using “language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”

This latest incident brings Siraj’s tally to two demerit points within a 24-month period. Four demerit points in that window would result in an automatic suspension. His previous offense was recorded during India’s Test against Australia in Adelaide last December.

Tensions have been simmering throughout the match. On the third evening, tempers flared when England’s Zak Crawley appeared to deliberately slow down play to ensure only one over would be bowled before stumps. A similar scenario unfolded the following day, with Indian nightwatchman Akash Deep attempting to limit the number of overs late in the evening.

However, Deep’s tactics were cut short as he was bowled by Ben Stokes with the final delivery of the day, setting up a dramatic final morning. At stumps, India were 58 for 4 in pursuit of a challenging target of 193 on a difficult surface. The visitors still need 135 runs, while England require six wickets to secure victory.

The closely contested series has now taken on an even more intense edge, with emotions running high and every run—and word—under close scrutiny.
