Tuba Anwar Highlights Heartfelt Initiative: WhatsApp Group Formed by Celebrities to Tackle Loneliness

Actress Tuba Anwar has shed light on a compassionate initiative launched by members of Pakistan’s entertainment fraternity: a WhatsApp group designed to foster emotional connection and combat the silent epidemic of loneliness within the industry.

In a recent interview, Tuba revealed that the group was formed as a direct response to growing mental health concerns among artists—especially in the aftermath of actress Humaira Ali’s passing, which shocked and saddened the showbiz community. Reports suggest Humaira faced deep isolation and a lack of support during her final days.

“The group’s purpose is very straightforward—stay connected, check in, and offer emotional support,” Tuba explained. She emphasized how working far from family or hometowns makes many actresses particularly susceptible to feelings of loneliness. The WhatsApp group now acts as a safe, supportive space for those facing emotional strain away from home.

“Humaira’s loss was a wake-up call,” she said. “Many of us were shaken to our core. We realized we must be more proactive in looking out for each other.”

The initiative has quickly gained momentum. Actress Sonya Hussyn shared that the effort has expanded to include a wider circle—not just fellow actors, but also makeup artists, backstage crew, and especially women living alone in urban areas. The expanded group is aimed at ensuring no one is left behind in moments of vulnerability.

Veteran performers like Rubina Ashraf and Yasir Hussain have also expressed strong support for the movement. Meanwhile, the Actors Collective Trust (ACT) is now evaluating ways to incorporate mental health support into its official programming. Still, Sonya pointed out that formal institutions can only go so far.

“We all have a role to play,” she stressed. “Looking after each other shouldn’t just be an organizational goal—it should be a personal commitment. Sometimes just asking if someone’s eaten or how they’re feeling can make a huge difference.”

She left audiences with a powerful suggestion: “If each of us checks in on just five people consistently, we might be able to stop another tragedy before it happens.”
